2nd Grade Students Pay a Visit to GA's Apiary
Mr. Newburger's 2nd grade science class gets a lesson on bees from Maura Saurman as part of their unit on insects. They discuss why bees are important and what bee keepers do to keep bees healthy. In the Academic courtyard they get to look inside a demonstration hive and on the roof they get to look inside one of the real hives through a built in window.

Making Honey from GA Hives
The Middle School Green Ambassadors along with Maura Saurman Divisional Nature Program Coordinator, got a sweet treat last week. Upper school science teacher Rebecca Pizzino brought two frames of honey from the school's bee hives to extract with them. Students took turns squeezing the honey from the comb into a filter. It was a finger licking good!
