Project Acorn: A Lower School and Middle School Collaboration Project

Inspired by an email from the Middle School inviting classes to support Project Acorn, kindergarten teacher, Gina Brown took her students to the Quad on a beautiful fall afternoon to collect acorns, but not before reading Chipmunk at Hollow Tree Lane to the class. Project Acorn is a Middle School Green Ambassador initiative designed to gift every graduating senior an oak seedling grown from a Quad acorn. The sentiment is that, even though they are going out into the world, their roots will always be at GA.  The  children proudly delivered some of the acorns to a Green Ambassador meeting and used the remaining acorns in a fall art project.

Lower School Welcome Walk

This fall, each class in the Lower School invited their parents to join the class for a walk through the Preserve. Students and parents enjoyed seeing more of what GA has to offer outside of our classroom spaces and getting to know each other better. We are thrilled that so many parents were able to join in these walks!

MS Green Ambassadors Garden to Table Initiative

The Academic Courtyard is a blissful and fruitful place to garden.  The tomatoes and peppers planted in the spring by the MS Green Ambassadors are being harvested and taken to the dining hall.  There are varieties of beefsteak, plumb and cherry tomatoes as well as the sweet and hot peppers.  Featured, are the habanero, chili, jalapeno, Cubano and Anaheim hot peppers.
